During the first two months of 2023, two of the Innovation Nursery companies have left their facilities at the same centre: Blue Agro and Ysium Medical.
The company Blue Agro, a company which researches, develops and markets innovative products for farmers, joined the CEIN Innovation Nursery in 2017 with its Mic Technology project. Mic Technology, as Santiago Cenoz, CEO of the company, explains, is a laboratory that develops microbes to use in agriculture. After five years in the CEIN facilities, the project that depends on Blue Agro, and the company, are saying goodbye to the Innovation Nurseries.
Cenoz states that when they joined CEIN, they were in need of one thing: to manufacture their products to then place them on the market. And it was at CEIN that they found the place where they could develop them. “”At CEIN, we have had the opportunity to manufacture and sell since day one,”” he confirms. Blue Agro is currently part of a large business group that markets fertilisers: DF Grupo.
The second company to leave the Innovation Nurseries was Ysium Medical, a company that designs and develops new medical devices, hand in hand with professionals in medicine, nursing and other areas of the healthcare sector.
Zuriñe Aguirre, the company’s CEO, explains that it was thanks to CEIN that she realised Ysium Medical needed to be put on the market. “”We were a division of our spin off, Vidorreta Design,”” says Aguirre, “”and we [Javier Vidorreta, her co-founder, and herself] realised that it was very important for us to create a new company, with its own vision, mission and individual capabilities.””
The company’s exit from the CEIN Nurseries has been very natural and demonstrates how much progress it has made since it was launched only a year ago. “”We now need more space for our prototype workshop and clinical trials. There are also now five of us working here.”” This represents exponential growth and Ysium intends to carry on this way over the next five years. Ysium Medical is now establishing itself as a leader in its field.
